Privacy policy

The short version

Expensifo does not collect, transmit, sell or share your personal information. The app has no user accounts and no server component. Every record you create is written to storage on your own device and stays there.

The sections below spell that out in detail, including the one place where a third party is involved: the app store you downloaded it from.

Information we collect

None. Expensifo does not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other identifier, because it has no account system to attach them to.

The app does not include analytics, crash reporting, advertising software development kits or tracking of any kind. It does not read your contacts, your location, your messages or your bank accounts, and it never connects to a bank.

Information stored on your device

Everything you enter is stored locally in the app’s own private storage area on your device. That includes:

• Records — amounts, dates, notes, and whether they are income or expense
• Wallets and profiles
• Categories and tags
• Recurring patterns
• Currency settings
• Your app preferences, such as language, theme, font and number formatting

This information is not readable by us or by anyone else. Uninstalling the app removes it from your device, so export a backup first if you want to keep it.

Backups

The Backup screen creates a file containing your records, wallets, categories, tags, recurring patterns, currencies, profiles and every setting. As the app states, the backup is stored inside the app, alongside your data, and nothing leaves the device.

If you choose to export or copy a backup file elsewhere — to a cloud drive, a computer, a messaging app — that copy is outside the app’s control and is governed by the privacy terms of whichever service you moved it to. Please treat backup files as sensitive financial documents.

Permissions

Expensifo requests only the permissions needed for features you actively use — for example, access to a folder you pick when you save or restore a backup file. It does not request network access for the purpose of sending your data anywhere, and the app is fully functional with no connection at all.

You can review and revoke any granted permission at any time in your device’s Android settings.

Third parties

We do not share your information with third parties, because we do not have your information.

One thing is outside our control: if you installed Expensifo through Google Play, Google collects its own data about the download and about your use of the Play Store under Google’s privacy policy. That relationship is between you and Google, and this policy does not alter it.

Children

Expensifo is a general-purpose tool suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included, and contains no advertising or external links to user-generated content.

Your rights over your data

Because your data never reaches us, you exercise every right over it directly on your device. You can view, edit or delete any record at any time, export the whole dataset as a backup file, or remove all of it by uninstalling the app.

There is no request to submit and no waiting period, because there is no copy of your data for us to act on.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever gains a feature that changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
